A Review Of Richard Mille RM50-02 ACJ x RM11 In TPT Quartz Men’s Watch
Coming back from the Swiss Richard Mille booth you never really stop thinking about what the R&D dept eats for breakfast. It’s gotta be steroids, they manage to be the trend setters for many years now, and one of the recent examples was the RM56, first ever high end watch to be made fully out of sapphire. They did this years ago, and other brands have only just now started to follow the trend. Were we expecting another version of the RM56 this year? Hell no, we all knew it’s that time to wow everyone and introduce something ridiculous and new. Something as ridiculous sapphire was 3 or 4 years ago. Two models, two crazy looks. Let’s start with the RM50-02 ACJ.
Teamed up with Airbus Corporate Jets Richard Mille men’s watch wanted to create a complicated piece yet a new odd look for it. White ceramic bezel did just fine. Apart from it there are 5 different materials used for the casing, the movement and the crown. And it’s not just for the looks; ceramic used for the bezel assures for more rigidity and makes it pretty much scratch proof. Lithium Lital, used in the movement is also a material used in Formula 1 and Airbus.
Worth a $1’000’000 it’s definitely a collector’s piece. Unlike anything else, and maybe not RM’s prettiest watch due to a very busy dial. However the bezel is just to die for.
Secondly, we saw an already beloved watch, the RM11, but in a completely new look. Made of TPT Quartz it actually has a bit of a wooden feeling to it, that was painted by a red marker. But that’s what is so cool about it. The strap used here reminds us of the Yohan Blake strap, very easy to put on and take off, and very light. Really hoping Richard Mille will extend this material to other models such as the RM35 and RM55, but for now that’s all we got 🙂
