Jay-Z wore a Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso to the Grammys
Jay-Z boasts rather the watch set. The 4:44 rapper (AKA Mr Bey) was spotted rocking every pimped-up timepiece to come from this Jura over the years: from his range of meaty Audemars Piguet Royal Oaks into quite a few solid-gold Rolexes and, of course, this near-mythical Patek Philippe watches Grandmaster Chime 6300G, the most complicated wristwatch ever produced, worth a cool $2.2 million.
Jay wore the aforementioned watch-cum-pension-plan to P Diddy’s 50th birthday party back in December, of course.
The unifying factor among most Jay’s timepieces, it would appear, is not just astronomical cost (we fear to think what his dwelling insurance premiums must be) but also a certain feeling of opulence.

The epitome of on-wrist understatement, it was an unexpectedly low-key turn from the guy who bought his own Champagne into the Golden Globes earlier this month.
Initially introduced by Jaeger-LeCoultre in 1931 as a solution for polo players that wanted to guard the delicate glass faces of the watches, the Reverso is as functional as it is easy on the eye and today, alongside Cartier’s Tank Francaise and Patek Philippe’s classic Calatrava, constitutes the grade of watchmaking refinement — the dress watch to finish all dress watches.
The polish of Jay’s look was farther buffed from the fact that his view is made in pink gold, the dial is completely clear of complications and it’s mounted on a glossy black crocodile leather strap.
What is also nice about the 99 Problems celebrity wearing a Jaeger Reverso to what must surely be among the most important events in his yearly calendar, is the fact that it’s a style move that even us mere mortals can one day aspire to emulate.
